Truecaller Voice Feature Officially Launched, Begins Global Rollout With New Update

Truecaller is a popular spam SMS detection and caller ID app which also offers other features like the in-built dialer, messaging app and now VoIP too

Highlights
  • The VoIP calling shortcut will be available at various locations inside the app for easy access
  • Currently, 180 million users use Truecaller in-built dialer app to make outgoing calls

If someone were to ask what is next in line when it comes to communication technology, people would say 5G or VoIP. While the former has got a long way to go in the market, the VoIP technology is starting to make its way to the people. Not only over-the-top platforms but also other telecom operators are beginning to test VoIP services. Now Truecaller is a popular name when it comes to spam calls and caller ID apps, however, the company has a vision of expanding much further than that and has therefore launched the VoIP based voice call feature, Truecaller Voice globally.

Truecaller VoIP Feature Details

Like you would expect in case of any VoIP app, this in-app voice over internet protocol (VoIP) based feature will allow users to make free, high quality (HD), low latency and quick to connect audio calls through Wi-Fi or mobile data connectivity. It is worth noting that Truecaller has been introducing features upon features to its caller ID and spam protection app to make it more robust. The app also allows the users to receive SMS through its app, which can act as a very convenient replacement for your system SMS app.

Similarly, this launch is the newest addition to the recent stream of updates, that is aimed to provide a full-fledged communication experience to Truecaller’s over 140 million daily active users globally. Truecaller has also noted that the rollout of this feature has already begun starting June 10, 2019.

Speaking about the debut of this new feature on Truecaller, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, VP Product, Truecaller, said “We are ecstatic at the launch of ‘Truecaller Voice’. We have been working towards building a full communication suite for our users and voice calling is the next big step in line with this mission. Through this integration, we are looking forward to effectively provide an end-to-end communication experience, where users can call, text, chat, filter messages, block spam and even make digital payments, all in one app. We are also planning to expand this feature to iOS in a few weeks.”

VoIP Calling Feature Integrated in Many Touch Points Across Truecaller App

It is worth noting that since Truecaller also offers the feature of an in-built dialer, the users are currently making 180 million outgoing phone calls using it, as such there is no doubt about the number of users who use Truecallers to make calls. To facilitate easy voice calling, the Truecaller Voice shortcut has been strategically integrated at relevant touchpoints in the app such as call logs, SMS Inbox, contact profile and after call screen. This has been done so as to avail the VOIP calling feature with ease at every place inside the Truecaller app so that users will be able to dial numbers without having to switch to other apps.  With this, Truecaller currently offers a one-stop integrated communication platform that hosts a range of key features including Caller ID, Intelligent dialer, Smart SMS inbox, Mobile Payments and Flash messaging.

First the messages over data network and now Voice over IP, next step will be integrated video calling and then it will be at par with whatsapp. Even the truecaller pay UPI feature is decent, wonder when whatsapp pay will go live for the masses.

Whatsapp is little slow in its feature rollout may be because they have a higher risk in rolling out to a abysmally larger number of users.
