Truecaller unveiled Truemessenger for Indian consumers which will now make SMS safer and adds context to your conversations, by allowing you to put a name to a number on your SMS messages and automatically filter out spam.

Launching exclusively today in India, Truemessenger is designed as an SMS replacement app, with an automated spam filter powered by 150 Million Truecaller community members worldwide. With the increasing amount of SMS spam, and unknown messages sent to private mobile phone numbers, Truemessenger puts you in control of who you communicate with and keeps your inbox clean and free from unwanted messages.

SMS messaging accounts for the majority of all messages sent globally, and represents about 8 trillion messages annually. The popularity of SMS, and that it is an open network of communication, similar to email, has led to an increase of commercial and marketing related messaging. These spam SMS account for 15% of all SMS messages sent globally, and represents 1.2 trillion spam messages each year. This is where Truemessenger becomes a necessity in today’s communication arena. With the increasingly global problem of spam and unknown numbers accumulating in our SMS inboxes, Truemessenger leads the way to an organized inbox where you can always put a name to a number, block and filter spam SMS messages seamlessly.

With Truemessenger you have:

The ability to put a name to a number, even for contacts outside your phonebook
The resources to detect, block, and report spam alongside other Truecaller members to build a smarter community
The option to avoid messages from unwanted numbers and contacts
A clean Inbox where spam messages are magically sent to a separate folder
The ability to add advanced filtering options by creating customized filters with known spam keywords or number series (area codes or country codes)
Truemessenger Bonus: Exclusive message alert tone brought to you by Avicii

With the Truemessenger launch, Truecaller has partnered with Avicii and his manager Ash Pournouri to create a special message alert tone and soundtrack for the Truemessenger promotional film.

Truemessenger is available for free on Android, and is complementary to the Truecaller and Truedialer apps.
