Reliance Jio's 5G AirFiber services have been launched in remote indigenous villages of Kerala. The company promotes its 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service as India's latest home Wi-Fi and entertainment solution under the AirFiber brand. According to Jio, this initiative is a collaboration between the Scheduled Tribes Development Department and Reliance Jio to introduce 5G AirFiber technology to indigenous villages for the first time.

Inauguration of Connectivity
Jio said O R Kelu, the Minister for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Backward Welfare, inaugurated the service online, connecting community study rooms in five centers. In the first phase, five villages in Kerala, including Melekap (Wayanad), Kozhimala (Idukki), Attathode (Pathanamthitta), Attappadi, and Kottamedu (Palakkad), will benefit from this high-speed internet service.

Weather-Resistant Connectivity
Jio emphasised that AirFiber, being a wireless service, ensures uninterrupted connectivity even in adverse weather conditions, making it ideal for remote areas. This high-speed internet facility will support a variety of activities, including educational and health classes, as well as vocational training for students and adults in these communities.

Bridging the Digital Divide
The inauguration was attended by Renuraj, Director of the Scheduled Tribes Development Department, and KC Narendran, Kerala Head of Reliance Jio, along with local representatives and Gram Sabha leaders from the five centers.

This collaboration between the Scheduled Tribes Development Department and Reliance Jio aims to bridge the digital divide in the region, the operator said.
