Reliance Jio, India's largest telecom operator, has deployed the first 5G site in Siachen Glacier for the Indian army. This is a major milestone as it will enable the soldiers in the region to stay seamless connected to the world for critical communications. In a post, FireFuryCorps shared on social media platform X, "Fire and Fury Corps in collaboration with Jio Telecom successfully installed the first ever 5G Mobile Tower on the Siachen Glacier."
The temperatures in the region can go below -40 degree celsius. Thus to install the 5G BTS (base transceiver station) is a major achievement for the telco and the army.
