In a move to bag premium postpaid customers, Aditya Birla group's telecom unit, Idea Cellular has launched a new MGM referral scheme in some circles for their customers. In this new scheme, Idea postpaid customers can invite their friends and family to join Idea Cellular network. If someone joins the Idea network in next 14 days through MNP, then the referrer would get billing discount of Rs 200 for next 2 months on his Idea postpaid number.

To invite someone, one has to send 'MGM-space-10 digit number' to 12345 (toll free) through referrer number. After successful registration, referrer & referred person would get a successful SMS. Then the referred person can visit any nearest Idea store or local retailer to migrate his/her number to Idea Cellular.

However, the referred person would have to choose from Idea My Plans in postpaid range. If he doesn't, then the referrer wouldn't get any benefit, as mentioned by the company in terms and conditions.

In Indian telecom market almost 96% customers are using prepaid to enjoy lower call and data charges. However, telecom companies are trying to convert these prepaid customers to postpaid by offering some exclusive or premium services. This MGM referral scheme is another plan from Idea Cellular to boost up their postpaid user base.

Dear readers, do you think Idea can benefit from this MGM scheme to convert their prepaid base into postpaid? Do share your views through
