The series of TECH war between incumbent operators and GSM lobby does not seems to be ending. In a recent development GSM lobby has alleged both TATA and RCOM offering 3G equivalent services under wireless data cards are seeking ministry’s intervention to put on hold to its service.
The GSM lobby claims speed of about 2.4Mbps -3.1Mbps are not possible in a CDMA network currently in operation and what TATA and RCOM are offering is completely illegal 3G EVDO services. The GSM lobby sought DoT’s intervention for maintaining a level playing field between various operators and has asked the ministry to ensure no operator was allowed to launch the 3G EVDO services without 3G being made available to all the players.
