Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has been low-key, introducing some really great prepaid plans in India. The state-run telco is considered inferior to the private operators, including Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea (Vi), because it doesn’t have an existing PAN-India 4G network. Regardless of that, there are some 3G/4G prepaid plans from BSNL that users around the country can’t ignore. One such plan is the Rs 997 plan. Let’s see what this plan offers to the users and why it gives BSNL an edge over its private competitors.

BSNL Rs 997 Plan Benefits Detailed

BSNL offers a Rs 997 plan to the users. It is available for users throughout the country, and it is a plan voucher. The PV_997 comes with a validity of 180 days which is great for users who are looking for an affordable long-term plan. This plan offers users unlimited voice calling to any network in India along with 100 SMS/day. Further, this plan offers users 3GB of daily data to the users for the entire validity.

In comparison, Reliance Jio offers a Rs 999 plan that comes with 3GB daily data, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS/day as well. But this plan comes with a validity of 84 days which is 96 days lesser than what BSNL offers with its plan. Users are entitled to receive a complimentary subscription to a suite of Jio apps, including JioCinema, JioTV, JioNews, JioCloud, and JioSecurity.

Surprisingly, Bharti Airtel has no plans in this range as of now. The telco used to offer a Rs 998 plan earlier, but that isn’t available on the company’s website or the mobile app anymore. This is a good price range for Bharti Airtel to experiment with its users’ loyalty and capacity to pay more for prepaid plans. Thus, it is completely blinding that Airtel isn’t offering a single plan in this range to compete with Jio and BSNL.

Even Vodafone Idea (Vi) isn’t offering a single prepaid plan in this price range. But Vi used to offer a Rs 999 plan which the company has discontinued. It is worth noting that both Airtel and Vi used to offer the same benefits with their Rs 998 and Rs 999 plan, which included only 12GB of data per year without any daily fair-usage-policy (FUP) limit. But these plans came with 336 (Airtel) and 365 (Vi) days validities.

Thus, at the moment, if someone’s looking for a prepaid plan priced close to Rs 1,000, BSNL has got the best offer for them.
