Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) has made a massive increase of FUP limit and post FUP speeds for FTTH Broadband plans. The FUP limit for certain plans has been increased by up to four times while the post FUP speed has been doubled. The new tariff will come into effect from 01-05-2016 across all circles.

The FUP limit for FTTH plan Fibro ULD 3999 has been increased by four times to 200GB from current 50GB limit. Similarly, Fibro ULD 5999 now comes with increased FUP limit of 300GB instead of 100GB earlier.

The FUP limit for plans Fibro ULD 9999 and Fibro ULD 16999 has been increased to 400GB and 600GB respectively. BSNL has also doubled post FUP speed for Fibro ULD 5999, Fibro ULD 9999 and Fibro ULD 16999 to 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps and 4 Mbps respectively.

Plan Name Existing Bandwidth/FUP Revised Bandwidth/FUP
Fibro ULD 3999 Upto 10 Mbps till 50GB, 512 Kbps beyondUpto 10 Mbps till 200 GB, 512 Kbps beyond
Fibro ULD 5999 Upto 20 Mbps till 100GB, 512 Kbps beyondUpto 20 Mbps till 300GB, upto 1 Mbps beyond
Fibro ULD 9999 Upto 50 Mbps till 150GB, upto 1 Mbps beyondUpto 50 Mbps till 400 GB, upto 2 Mbps beyond
Fibro ULD 16999 Upto 100 Mbps till 200GB, upto 2 Mbps beyondUpto 100 Mbps till 600 GB, upto 4 Mbps beyond

This is a welcome moves from BSNL to increase FUP limit and post FUP speeds for the plans without any hike in monthly rental. BSNL FTTH Fibre broadband plans had failed to impress customers as the plan cost were high compared to normal broadband plans and plan benefits were not attractive. With the latest revision BSNL is trying attract more users to its FTTH broadband service. However, the service is limited only to certain cities and not widely available.
