Airtel-vccBharti Airtel, India’s leading GSM operator, has slashed ISD call charges by 18% for its mobile & landline customers across the country. ISD calls to select Gulf countries have been reduced from current Rs 8.50/min to Rs 6.99/min.

In order to avail the reduced rates, one needs to purchase a “VCC” (Virtual Calling Card). This can be obtained from any AIRTEL retailer across the countryby recharging with RS 55 / 110 / 225 / 550 / 2200 or 299. Once recharged, the customer would receive the VCC PIN on his phone via SMS.

Calls to the following countries would get the benefit:
Qatar, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain.

The new rates are already effective from 23 June 2009.

Note: these new tariffs would only apply to the customers using the RS 299 (EASY CHARGE) and RS 199 (PAPER COUPON) denominations.
