Bharti Airtel Targets Basic Users With Rs 47 Prepaid Plan, Offers 125 Mins of Voice Calls and 500MB Data

Bharti Airtel also introduced a new prepaid tariff plan of Rs 47, competing with Vodafone India. Airtel’s new plan focusses on basic users as it provides just 125 minutes of voice calls, 50 SMS and 500MB data. All these benefits will come with a validity of 28 days not only that as of June 2018 Airtel has crossed around 344 million subscribers. In the past, we haven’t seen many prepaid plans under Rs 50 with the validity of 28 days, but this new plan from Vodafone and Airtel is changing that scenario. That being said, both the telcos are even providing exactly the same benefits with the Rs 47 prepaid plan. And of course, it’s an open market plan from Airtel, same as how Vodafone is offering its Rs 47 prepaid plan.

Aforementioned, both Airtel and Vodafone are offering similar benefits with this prepaid plan. Airtel is offering a total of 7500 local, STD and national roaming seconds with this plan, which converts to a total of 125 minutes. Furthermore, the plan also offers 50 SMS and 500MB of 2G/3G/4G data for the entire validity period of 28 days.

Vodafone India, on the other hand, is also providing similar benefits of 7500 seconds voice calling, 50 SMS and 500MB at Rs 47 and it’s an open market plan too. While both Airtel and Vodafone introduced this Rs 47 prepaid plan, Idea Cellular has come up with a Rs 75 prepaid plan with better benefits.

Idea’s all-new Rs 75 prepaid plan gives a user 300 minutes of voice calls even on national roaming, 100 SMS and 1GB of 2G/3G/4G data and that too for a period of 28 days. But Vodafone and Airtel are yet to introduce the Rs 75 plan.

For the unaware, Airtel already has a Rs 99 prepaid plan, under which the telco is giving 2GB of 2G/3G/4G data, unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. However, the Rs 99 plan is valid only for select users. On the flip side, Jio has an open market Rs 98 prepaid plan which offers a user unlimited voice calls, again without any FUP limit, 2GB of 4G data and 300 SMS for the validity period of 28 days.

Please help. Can we que plans/recharges on Airtel and Vodafone, like Jio?

And Airtel and Vodafone, for e.g. if their Rs.399/84 days gives 1.4GB today and say a after 4 months reduce to 1GB, will the multiple qued recharges get current benefits or old benefits (at the time of recharge)?

Will start doing Idea too once they deploy band 41. Idea speeds came down in Pune recently. Airtel speeds increased due to less users on them.

125 mins (averaging 4 mins/day) for RS.47 is joke, when unlimited is available for RS.99… whether Airtel or Vodafone. Some people will certainly opt for this, but most of them would avoid it.

They should have had at least 300 mins (averaging 10 mins/day)… I would have personally liked 450 mins. ‘Most’ people talk at least 10-15 mins in a day.

@Srijith How many minutes are you expecting for 47 rupees (in addition to free data and SMS)? If 125 minutes is not enough for you, you are free to spend more. Nobody is stopping you.

Correction:

125 mins of Airtel is nothing compared to Jio’s unlimited plans. So 300 mins is very very reasonable expectation?!

@dragonmonk Nobody is also stopping you to spend more on Avoid cartel (Airtel Vodafone Idea). But don’t expect (your opinion) others to be fools like you.

300mins and 500mb for Rs.47 of Airtel is nothing when compared to Jio’s unlimited plans – Rs.49 or even Rs.99 which offer several times more benefit.

Plans and offers are a function of market. So learn the basics before vomiting!
