Paying more for ipad actuallky makes snese becuase it has ios which something something exclusive to ipad and better than android for tablets because of an amazing app library which has apps specifically for tablets and thats not the case with nexus has android and you can find several decent tabelts bwteen 10k and 20k with android. Also what tharun george said is right that ipad is far better in quality than nexus.

Too pricey

Nexus 7 (2012) 16GB WiFi is just Rs 8,999 on flipkart. There is no point in paying more than double for a upgraded processor and 1080p display.

Rs 7000 extra for 4G + 16GB is too much. After all we use only 2G/3G in India.

Mr Tharun, the nexus mentioned above is the new version(2013) with updated specs.
The one you are referring to is the old model.

I know that is why I said “Nexus 7 (2012)” and “There is no point in paying more than double for a upgraded processor and 1080p display.”

I partly agree with you but you don’t seem to understand that display is the most expensive part of any gadget out there & as such you see 4K displays being sold at 10x or more the price of the usual full HD displays. You know why is that, economies of scale & initial R&D cost therefore the less common 1080p displays on tablets/smartphones are more expensive & hence the price differential, which IMO is perfectly justified !

What are you trying to say? I said Nexus 7 (2012) 16GB WiFi is just Rs 8,999 on flipkart. Your link do confirm that.

Tharun George, and vikas…Nexus 7(2013)..if you cannot afford then don’t buy…but your Comments show that you have very poor technical knowledge..
Nexus 7(2013) is highly upgrade than nexus 7(2012)…
there is no Similarity between Nexus 7(2013) and Nexus 7(2012)..

Pricing is Little bit high due to Rupees Downfall and Paying Rs 20000 is Worthy for Original Android upgraded Snapdragon Processor..Too Fast and too Furious.

Also if you check you can see it is available in US for just $229 = Rs 14,000. So Google intentionally over priced it in India.

Better wait few months till price comes down to that level.

December 7, 2013 8:57 pm 8:57 PM

What, do you not know the fact that retailers selling online in the US hardly pay any taxes? The more appropriate comparison would be with EU & some of the “low taxing” countries in Europe & there you’ll see better parity between prices with India !

December 8, 2013 7:15 am 7:15 AM

In US, Nexus 2012 is $159 = Rs 10,000 on So its is not about the Tax. Just wait few months and you will see price will come down to US level in India. The same thing happen when Google launched Nexus 7 2012 for Rs 16,999 in India.

You are spending Rs 21k for a 7″ tablet which has only WiFi. Yes iPad mini are much more costly, but this is Asus made Google Nexus. When Google launched Nexus 7 2012 in India, on playstore it was priced for Rs 16999. But within few months price started dropping on flipkart and now its just Rs 8,999. Same will happen to Nexus 7 2013 in next few months. Nexus 7 2013 upgrades: Full HD display, 2GB RAM, Bluetooth 4.0, 5MP cam, Quad core Snapdragon S4 1.5Ghz. You are paying Rs 12k more to get this.
