After Vodafone India, Idea Cellular Now Allows Women to Pay Bills Without Disclosing Their Numbers

Idea Cellular, India’s third-largest telecom network has now come up with another initiative on the eve of this year’s International Women’s day. The new initiative is called as ‘Idea Cellular Private Recharge’ under which women can recharge their numbers by not disclosing their mobile numbers.

“Idea Cellular’s Private Recharge is aimed at letting customers retain their privacy by not sharing their numbers. This is particularly useful for Idea’s women customers who can choose not to disclose their numbers thereby ensuring their privacy. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Idea Cellular is reiterating its commitment to women’s safety with the ‘Private Recharge’ feature on its V-Top up system. The service was first launched in Kerala in August 2016 and is now available across 14 circles in the country. Pan-India roll-out will be completed within this month” said the company.

This unique method allows women customers to recharge their mobile phones by obtaining an OTP (One Time Password), in just one simple step. Both prepaid and postpaid Idea customers can avail this facility to recharge their phones and pay mobile bills. Customers are just required to SMS ‘Code’ to 55515 (toll-free) and obtain an OTP. As Private Recharge works through standard SMS service, it can be accessed by all customers via any type of phone in real-time. Instead of sharing the phone number, the customer can share the unique code with the retailer to avail the preferred recharge.

Apart from Idea; Bharti Airtel and Vodafone India had already announced special gifts for women yesterday. Vodafone announced that they would be giving away 2GB of data for all the women in the area of Delhi NCR, whereas Airtel is giving exclusive gift hampers to all the Airtel women distributors in the country.

This is an excellent initiative from Idea Cellular. That said, Idea is also concentrating heavily on introducing new plans and offers to the consumers in order to combat Reliance Jio and its new JioPrime membership.

Back in his engineering days, he used to play with smartphones by installing custom ROMs and that passion got him into the tech industry. He still goes nuts about a smartphone knocking his door for review. Currently managing everything at Telecom Talk, Chakri is trying to master PUBG Mobile in his free time.
