Telehouse Expands Data Center Capacity in London Docklands
Telehouse International Corporation of Europe has announced the opening of two additional floors at its Telehouse South data center in London Docklands, enhancing its capacity by offering up to 2.7 MW of peak IT load on each of the sixth and seventh floors, starting this month. This expansion responds to the rising demand for secure colocation services and follows a significant refurbishment update in October 2023. The operator is refurbishing the 11-story building it acquired in phases.

Location for Low-Latency Connectivity

Initially opened in 2022, Telehouse South aims to provide a total of up to 18 MW across more than 4,000 racks in the building upon full development. Telehouse noted that the facility's location near the City and Canary Wharf allows for low-latency connectivity to London's financial sector, supported by a network of 7,000 dark fibers across two diverse routes linking it to four other Telehouse data centers.

Renewable Energy and Sustainability

Telehouse South is powered by 100 percent renewable energy procured from certified wind, solar, biomass, and hydro generators. The company added that its new intelligent control system will optimise energy efficiency by utilising higher water temperatures in its cooling system to reduce power demand.

Additionally, Telehouse plans to recycle waste heat from the system to provide low-carbon heating to nearby homes and businesses.
