India Mobile Congress 2023 Curtain Raiser Sets Stage for Global Digital Innovation

The Curtain Raiser of India Mobile Congress 7th Edition (IMC-2023) was inaugurated by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology and Railways, along with Shri Devusinh Chauhan, Minister of State for Communications, in a prestigious ceremony today. This event garnered the presence of members from the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), representatives from the telecom industry, and start-ups, said the official statement.

IMC 2023 Theme: Global Digital Innovation

IMC, Asia's leading digital technology exhibition, is co-hosted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and COAI. This year, the seventh edition of the India Mobile Congress will take place from October 27th to 29th at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi under the theme of 'Global Digital Innovation'. The event is anticipated to witness over 100,000 participants, including 5,000 CXO-level delegates, 350 speakers, and 400 exhibitors.

Ashwini Vaishnaw's Vision for IMC-2023

Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the success of the previous IMC and emphasized the goal of making it the premier tech event in India. He acknowledged the India Mobile Congress as a significant technology event that witnessed the fastest 5G rollout in the country.

Minister Vaishnaw proposed the inclusion of more industries such as drone technology, power electronics, AI innovations, cybersecurity, data centres, and start-ups in IMC. He emphasized the involvement of at least 100 universities and students in IMC-2023.

Additionally, he suggested the introduction of a section dedicated to consumer-facing cybersecurity and extending the exhibition duration to five days. The concept of partner countries was also put forth to enhance international collaborations. Minister Vaishnaw envisioned IMC as a platform to position India as a leading technology developer, telecom manufacturer, and exporter.

Devusinh Chauhan Highlights Transformation in Telecom Industry

Minister Devusinh Chauhan commended the evolution of the Indian telecom industry over the years and recognized IMC as a premier global technology event. He emphasized the growth in various aspects of the telecom sector, including initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), the successful rollout of 5G, and the roadmap for 6G. Minister Chauhan expressed the need for IMC-2023 to showcase 5G use cases that are transforming key sectors such as agriculture, education, logistics, and animal husbandry.

IMC 2023: Shaping India's Role in the Digital Revolution

Since its inception in 2017, IMC has played a crucial role in positioning India as a global leader in digital innovation. The upcoming IMC will feature key programs focusing on 6G, advancements in 5G networks, AI integration, edge computing, Industry 4.0, and India Stack.

According to the official release, the event will expand to related technology domains such as broadcast, satellite communications, manufacturing, and semiconductors through partnerships with various associations.

IMC-2023 will also introduce Aspire, a Start-Up event to foster entrepreneurship and innovation in the digital domain. Aspire will provide a platform for networking, workshops, and investment opportunities.

According to the official statement, The India Mobile Congress 2023 aims to realize the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to promote India's pivotal role in the global digital revolution. The event will showcase breakthroughs in 5G, 6G, broadcasting, satellite communications, semiconductors, drones, devices, and green technologies.
