The fixed broadband download and upload speeds in India have improved substantially when compared with the same period last year. According to an Ookla report, the fixed broadband download speeds in India have jumped to 60.06 Mbps in July 2021. In comparison, during the same period last year, the fixed broadband download speed was 40.45 Mbps. Further, the fixed broadband upload speeds in India have jumped from 35.04 Mbps in July 2020 to 56.47 Mbps in July 2021. India ranks at the 68th position in Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index, which is 7 positions up from its previous ranking.
India Maintains Global Ranking in Mobile Speeds
As per Ookla, India’s overall performance in mobile speeds has improved consistently. There were a few dips but nothing substantial, and it has helped India stay at the 122nd position, respectively. In July 2021, India’s mobile download speed registered was 17.77 Mbps which is a tad bit lesser than the 17.84 Mbps recorded in June 2021.
Same as in June 2021, UAE and Monaco have retained their position as the countries offering the maximum mobile broadband and fixed broadband download speeds. UAE delivered a mobile downloading speed of 190.03 Mbps in July 2021, and Monaco delivered a fixed broadband download speed of 256.70 Mbps.
It is worth noting that according to a recent report from Ookla, India’s mobile download speeds are expected to jump 10x of what it is now. This means Indian users could get up to 180 Mbps speeds approximately with the presence of 5G networks.
