Xiaomi has a major launch event in China on November 5 where it will be launching more than five products across different categories. For mobile enthusiasts, the event will be all about the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro smartphone, which will be the first one to come out with 108MP camera commercially. Besides the Mi CC9 Pro, Xiaomi will also be launching its Mi TV 5 range of Smart TVs on the same day. Xiaomi has been launching Smart TVs under its Mi TV 4 series for nearly two years now and the Mi TV 5 series will pack some serious upgrades compared to the predecessors. According to tipster Ishan Agarwal, Xiaomi will also launch a new Mi Power Bank 3 and Mi Air Purifier Max Enhanced edition on the same day. And yes, Xiaomi's first smartwatch dubbed Mi Watch running MIUI for Watch OS will also be coming out on November 5. Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi unveiled some details regarding the Mi TV 5 series which will replace the Mi TV 4 series.

Xiaomi Mi TV 5 Series: What to Expect?

As always, Xiaomi is heavily teasing the Mi TV 5 range of Smart TVs in China to build excitement for the launch on November 5. The Mi TV 5 will feature a QLED panel, and yes, the series will take on the OnePlus TVs (OnePlus Q1 and the OnePlus Q1 Pro). Notably, OnePlus TVs are available only in the Indian market for now, so expect Xiaomi to bring the Mi TV 5 series as well to the sub-continent in the next two months. Right now, we're not sure how many models will Xiaomi launch under the Mi TV 5 series on November 5; We're expecting the company to launch at least three models. Notably, the Mi TV 5 would be the first Smart TV from Xiaomi to come with a QLED panel.

Xiaomi also says the Mi TV 5 will its slimmest Smart TV ever, beating the old Mi TV 4. As for the display technology, Xiaomi says the Mi TV 5 series will make use of Samsung Quantum Dot panel which will offer 108% NTSC wide colour gamut. It will be interesting to see how these TVs perform in real life. Going by the numbers, the Mi TV 5 will deliver way better viewing experience than the Mi TV 4 models.

Xiaomi also revealed some core hardware details of the Mi TV 5 series. The upcoming Smart TVs from Xiaomi will be powered by a 12nm processor, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and a whopping 64GB of internal storage. We haven't seen brands adding 64GB of onboard storage in their TVs, so it'll be a start of something new from Xiaomi.
Pricing and other models will be revealed on November 5 launch event in China.

Xiaomi Mi TV 5 Series to Take on OnePlus TVs

Going by the confirmed features, the Xiaomi Mi TV 5 series will take on OnePlus TVs which are India-only for now. For the uninitiated, OnePlus launched two Smart TVs running Android TV a few weeks ago and they are OnePlus TV Q1 and the OnePlus TV Q1 Pro, priced at Rs 69,990 and Rs 99,990, respectively. OnePlus said its first-ever TVs received a good response from the audience, and in fact, they became the best sellers in the Premium Smart TV category on Amazon India.

There's no doubt that Xiaomi will bring the new Mi TV 5 series to the Indian market and if the Chinese company achieves a better price than the OnePlus TV Q1, then people may prefer Xiaomi over OnePlus in the premium Smart TV segment.
