OnePlus TV With 55-inch QLED Display Teased Officially

As the launch date of OnePlus TV nearing, the Chinese company is revealing features one by one. Today, OnePlus India officially announced that the OnePlus TV would come with a 55-inch QLED panel. If the 55-inch model of the OnePlus TV features a QLED panel, then other models with bigger displays may also feature the same panel. However, we may see the smaller display models of OnePlus TV featuring a different panel- could be OLED or just a LED panel. Using QLED technology will drastically improve the colour and brightness levels of the panel. QLED technology was first implemented by Samsung, but the South Korean giant has made it available for other manufacturers as well. Even on its smartphones, OnePlus uses Samsung-made AMOLED displays and it doesn’t come as a surprise that the company is opting QLED technology on its upcoming OnePlus TV.

What is QLED and What Improvements Does it Bring to the Table?

As mentioned, QLED technology was first developed by Samsung and we have seen QLED TVs from Samsung launching in India as well. However, a couple of years ago, Samsung opened the QLED technology to other brands as well which is the reason why OnePlus has managed to use a QLED panel on its TV. However, there are many who are not aware of what a QLED panel actually is. QLED or Quantum Light-Emitting Diode panel has quantum dots on top of the standard LED panel. These quantum dots are tiny nanoparticles which help in improving the colour and brightness levels of an LED panel drastically.

Currently, Samsung is offering wide-range of QLED TVs– not only in India but across the globe. Other brands which are selling QLED TVs in India right now are Vu, Blaupunkt and iFFALCON with the cheapest one in the market is iFFALCON by TCL V2A 65-inch model priced at Rs 69,999. Vu and Blaupunkt are selling their QLED TVs at Rs 99,999, and Samsung’s QLED TVs start at Rs 76.000.
