In last few months or so the Indian telecom market has been buzzing with price cuts every other day. Companies have drastically cut prices of their prepaid recharge plans ever since the rollout of the Reliance Jio service. Of late, the tariff war has shifted to the postpaid zone, and many changes have happened in postpaid plans as well.

The postpaid plans from major telecom operators have become cheaper and give consumers more data, calling and messaging benefits than earlier. In fact, these plans have become so good, that entry-level plans offer enough value and services to be enough for most people.

But having said that, the dilemma shifts to choosing the best entry-level postpaid plan? Let’s compare the entry-level postpaid plans from Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, and Reliance Jio.

Airtel 399 Plan
Airtel’s myPlan Infinity postpaid plan starts at Rs 399 and offers unlimited local and STD calls along with 10GB of data per bill cycle. Only outgoing roaming calls are charged at 80p/minute for local roaming and Rs 1.15/minute for STD.

Users also get a free subscription to Wynk music. The best part is the plan comes with Airtel Data Roll Over scheme up to 200GB, meaning you can enjoy carrying forward unused data from this month to next month.

Jio 309 Plan
Jio’s competing plan starts at Rs 309. The Jio plan offers free unlimited voice calling whether local, STD or roaming and as well 30GB of 4G data with a daily cap of 1GB. Clearly, there is no carry forward of data. Also included are 100 free SMSes per day and unlimited access to Jio apps. With Jio apps, users get to see live TV or tune-in to latest movies and music.

Vodafone RED 499
The all-new Vodafone RED Traveler plan starting Rs 499 comes with unlimited local, STD, and national roaming calls and 100 SMSes for the entire billing cycle. Additionally, 20GB of high-speed data is bundled with the plan.

Vodafone also offers data carry forward option for up to 200GB. They also offer the free subscription to entertainment apps such as Vodafone Play, Magzter, and Vodafone RED Shield.

Idea 389 Plan
Idea cellular has introduced new Nirvana postpaid plans rivalling that of Airtel myPlan infinity and Vodafone RED postpaid plans. The entry-level plan starting Rs 399 offers unlimited local and STD calls and with only free incoming on roaming. The plan comes with 10GB high-speed data and data carry forward limit of up to 200GB. Idea is also offering free music, movies, games, and magazines subscription with the plan.

Which is the best plan?
Reliance Jio is the best option for value-conscious users. Not is the Jio postpaid cheapest among all the options, it comes with totally free calling as there are no roaming charges whether incoming or outgoing.

The voice is also truly free in a sense that Jio makes no charge towards voice or the data used to make 4G voice calls. This means you only pay for the data.

The free Jio apps subscription is another plus since you get access to a number of channels and other multimedia within the charges of a phone.

Another great option is the Vodafone RED plan. Those who don’t find with Jio’s data caps per day, Vodafone offers unlimited data access and data rollover as well.
