HMD Global has made an announcement that its Nokia 3 will soon receive Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. Talking about these phones, Nokia 3 was unveiled last month in India along with the Nokia 6 and the Nokia 5 smartphones that originally ran on Android 7.0 operating system out of the box.

The confirmation comes straight from HMD’s chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas, who revealed on his twitter handle that the Nokia 3 would receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update by the end of August. We already knew from previous reports that Nokia 3 would get the OS update soon and the latest tweet from the company official confirms the time frame.
There has been a delay in rolling out the latest Android OS update to the Nokia 3, and the company blamed it on its use of the MediaTek processor. Now, the Nokia 3 users worldwide will finally receive the latest iteration of the Android OS within a month’s time.
Based on the official changelog posted by Google, the Android 7.1.1 update will bring a new feature called ‘app shortcuts’ through which the users can directly access their favourite apps right from their home screen, by simply long pressing on the app icon. It also allows the users to send GIFs from their keyboard itself on supported apps such as Google Messenger, Hangouts, and Google Allo.

Talking about the phone on the topic, the Nokia 3 was launched in India in late June for Rs. 9,499 and was made available through offline retailers across the country. However, the smartphone was later seen listed on an online store – Croma – along with offline bookings.
