Facebook is rolling out a new update for its Messenger app on iOS and Android, which will allow users to play a variety of games on the messaging platform. With this update, Facebook has integrated a game controller icon within the app that will show various games that can be played on the Messenger.

By tapping on the game controller icon, users will get a list of games, ranging from Classic Arcade games such as Pac-Man, Galaga and Space Invaders, to new popular games like Words with Friends. The gaming list contains a total number of 17 games onboard. Also, to add more fun to the gaming, the app allows users to challenge their Facebook friends to play these games and beat each other's gaming records.

In its blog post, Facebook states,"We’ve made it very simple to start playing: In the latest version of the app, open a conversation with a friend (or friends!), tap on the game controller icon just below where you type your message, and choose a game to start playing right away. After you finish a round, people in the conversation will see your score and will have the opportunity to challenge you back."

Moreover, to give a conversational touch to gaming feature on Messenger, the app allows dedicated chat and group thread conversations on these games. Facebook also revealed that the app would be updated with new games in the coming weeks. For now, Facebook has rolled out this feature to 30 countries - Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Great Britain, Canada, United States, Japan, Netherlands, Australia, Austria, Latvia, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, New Zealand, France, Singapore, Finland, Hong Kong, Russian Federation, Estonia, Taiwan, Slovenia, Puerto Rico, Cyprus, Israel, Lithuania, Spain, and Italy. Facebook will soon be adding more countries to the list.
