OnePlus Claims Dash Charge Technology to Outsmart Google Pixel XL

Battery and the time taken to charge it has become a deciding factor in choosing the right smartphone. The manufacturers are undertaking trials and experiments in improving the factor, some of which have resulted in chaos (as seen in the case of Samsung Galaxy Note7). OnePlus’s trial in the battery was seen in OnePlus 3 via its Dash Charge. This technology is a fast-charging solution based on OPPO’s VOOC. The technology promises to replenish 2/3rd charge of the smartphone in 30 minutes (in company’s own words – a day’s power in half an hour).

In an interview, OnePlus' co-founder Carl Pei, said that the Dash Charge technology is a prime reason why people are satisfied with OnePlus 3. “I know what OnePlus users look for because we do have studies on why people bought our product. And it might not be the reason why they bought the product, but the number one reason why people are satisfied with the OnePlus 3 is Dash Charge, and that’s from data,” Carl Pei said.

Now, the company has included the Dash Charge technology in its latest flagship, the OnePlus 3T. In an interesting video shared on its official YouTube channel, OnePlus has compared the fast-charging capability of OnePlus 3T and Google Pixel XL. Between the two, Google Pixel XL features a 3450mAh battery, slightly higher that the 3400mAh battery of OnePlus 3T. The video shows that OnePlus 3T reaches 100% charge in one hour and 30 minutes. Google Pixel XL reached the full charge in two hours. The difference between the batteries might have caused the delay to charge Pixel XL.

Since the battery life depends on various other factors, including the processor used in the smartphone, Dash Charge cannot be claimed as the fastest charging technology. However, it is appreciative to see the new technologies coming up in the segment.
