Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users are now getting an update on their device that brings "Always On" display. The update is currently rolling out to both the devices and will bring a variety of other features too.

Alongside the Always On feature, the update also brings a freshly designed calendar onboard. The newly designed scheduler/calendar replaces the two calendars on the devices. The size of the update is 8MB, and it also introduces changes to the clocks shown on the Always On display. Also, these clocks will be highly customizable. Users will also be able to add their signature to the screen in any font or color of their liking. The Always On display is compatible with the S-View cover and Keyboard cover.

Always On display is often deemed as a battery eating feature. However, the update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge comes with optimized Always On display, which consumes less than one percent of battery life every hour. It means that the user won't need to fuel up the battery now and then to accommodate the feature. But, the battery consumption is highly reliant on the kind of content that a user has on his/her smartphone.

For now, we don't know whether Samsung is rolling it out in a phase-wise manner. Being an OTA update, we expect that it will take some time to reach all the devices. The update will most likely debut with a notification on your S7 or S7 edge, but if it doesn't then you can check for it manually. Just go to your device's Settings > About Phone > Check for Update.
