The blemish of defective battery does not seemed to have affected the sales of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phablet in South Korea. According to a report by Forbes, Samsung has reported an impressive sales in the domestic re-launch of the smartphone over the weekend. On Oct 1, the day of re-launch, Samsung said that it sold 15,000 devices. In the past three days, it sold around 45,000 phones.

More than half of the faulty smartphones are returned and the users who returned still opted to stick with the same model, another promising aspect for Samsung. To add to it, Samsung has received the title of Korea’s favorite brand in the third quarter, according to Brand Stock. However, in the U.S., its reputation seems to have tarnished. A poll said that only 1 in 5 users will stick to Galaxy Note 7, pointed out the report.

On the other hand, a replaced Note 7 was reported to have caught fire in South Korea. The battery is said to have melted while it was kept for charging overnight. “It’s not the first time a replacement phone has had problems, with “isolated cases” being reported locally,” the report pointed out. Samsung has not responded to Forbes on the issue, but there are reports of the same being blamed on “external shock”.
