Xiaomi might launch a successor to Mi 5 at the launch event scheduled to happen on September 27 in China, according to a teaser released on Weibo. Likely to be called as Mi 5S, the smartphone is expected to feature a 64-bit Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.4GHz.
Several other leaks already surfaced online about its specifications. A 5.5-inch full HD display of 1080 x 1920p resolution with 95% NTSC color gamut, and 650 nits of brightness, Adreno 530 GPU, 6GB of RAM, 256GB ROM etc. are the other speculations for this Xiaomi smartphone. However, some previous reports were hinting at two more variants, probably, a 3GB RAM with 64GB onboard storage version and 4GB RAM with 128GB onboard storage.
Xiaomi Mi 5S is to run on Android Marshmallow OS with a layer of MIUI 8 on top. On the camera front, this Xiaomi dual SIM smartphone may come with a dual-camera setup. A latest leak also pointed out to a 16MP snapper at the rear and a 4MP at the front. For connectivity, new Xiaomi Mi 5S may support 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB Type-C and NFC support. A fingerprint scanner and a 3,490mAh battery are also rumored. There is no official confirmation on the specs yet.
