Although Jio is offering 4G services under the 'testing tag' to millions of Indians, the firm has finally started allowing port out request for those users who are using Jio Preview Offer and want to join existing networks like Airtel and Vodafone through MNP route keeping their number unchanged.
Earlier, it was possible to generate MNP code for few users but two weeks back when we tested, it didn't work as the company was cancelling port out requests, even after sending UPC codes. But last Friday when we tried it again, we found it successfully generated a UPC code, later we visited the nearest Vodafone Store and did the paperwork as per MNP procedure. To our surprise, today we got a call from Jio where one of their executives asked why we want to port out, we told them about the voice call issue and she said “you can port out if you wish or I can cancel the request.”
Asking whether Jio has started allowing test users to port out, she replied 'We're allowing port out requests starting this week and users who have crossed 90 days on Jio can successfully generate UPC code to avail MNP service".
Though it’s very unlikely that subscribers using Jio Preview Offer would leave Jio to join other networks, when thousands of people are waiting to grab a Jio SIM card for their 4G device. This step by Jio hints that the company would soon allow MNP port in facility for normal users as well, where one can easily join Jio network without changing their number.
Note: As you know this is a beta phase jio must be testing all its features.
