Google has released Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Nexus devices starting this week, and many devices are yet to receive the update. However, there are several reports stating that Android One devices have started receiving the update in India. Google launched three Android One devices – Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V, and Spice Dream Uno – in India in the first phase and the Lava Pixel V1 in the second phase. The former devices have reportedly started receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in India, but there's no such update that is rolling out for the Lava Pixel V1 yet.

All these devices were launched with similar hardware specifications, and Google promised that it would be personally responsible for rolling out software updates for 24 months. These devices were first launched with Android 4.4 KitKat onboard, and they later received Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, skipping Android 5.0 Lollipop update altogether. Even after advertising these devices, Google didn't see as much sales as it expected as consumers focussed more on hardware specifications rather than software experience and quality. However, Google still went ahead by launching a better equipped Lava Pixel V1 later.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is about 338.1 MB in size and brings a lot of new features such as app permissions, app links, Google Now on Tap, enhanced support for microSD card slots, reverse charging capabilities, and the battery-saving Doze feature to these Android One devices. The enhanced microSD card support is quite beneficial for these, which have very limited internal storage space. With this feature, microSD card slots can be formatted to be a part of internal storage, so there would be no problem in installing as many apps as you want, but we are yet to test how this feature works in real-time.
