Taj Television, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEE) has been alleged to have violated TDSAT orders. An Amritsar based multi-system operator (MSO) Godfather Communications has filed a complaint to Telecom Regulatory of India (TRAI) on this regard.

The complaint blamed Taj TV for denying Zee TV signals despite an audit by Broadcast Engineering Company (India) Ltd (BECIL) as directed by the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Arbitration Tribunal (TDSAT). It further stated that Taj TV demanded a bribe of Rs. 3 lakhs per month from the operator.

After the audit of BECIL, Indiacast, the media distribution private limited company executed the interconnection agreement for Amritsar Phase II city on 29 May this year with effect from 1 June, 2015 to 31 March, 2016 in compliance with the order dated 27 May, 2015. However, Taj Television did not enter into the agreement.

TRAI will scrutinize the matter in few weeks time.
