It is worth noting that MTNL in spite of owning the same quantum of 3G spectrum as the private telcos even after 5 years still offers only HSDPA services with peak download speeds of 3.6Mbps in comparison to HSPA+ services offered by private telcos with peak download speeds of 21.1Mbps. MTNL has been losing its market subscriber share quarter on quarter and is at a point where they need to take radical steps to save its operations.

MTNL has recently declared that they will not be participating in the upcoming spectrum auctions thus being able to keep their tariffs low. This pack will come in as a breath of fresh air for its high-speed subscribers in Mumbai circle.
