dth indiaIndia’s Multi-System Operators in Karnataka particularly Bengaluru, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have joined hands to establish a South Indian Cable Television Federation to strengthen their broadband offer and operating power.

The federation will be officially launched in Kerala by year end. The federation will have 20 headends under it, currently catering to 30 lakh subscribers across Bengaluru, Telangana, AP, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

According to a MSO, this was initiated as few broadcasters discriminate between national MSOs and regional independent MSOs. In the mean time, the federation plans to strengthen broadband offer, MSOs operating power and generate greater revenue streams for all the participating MSOs.

According to a report, the independent MSOs from the southern part of the country are working towards getting their act right in order to be able to successfully complete digitisation and also reap maximum benefits from it.
