Priced at Rs. 28,900, Samsung Gear S is the costliest smartwatch in India

Along with the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung has also launched the Gear S smartwatch in India, at a price of Rs. 28,900. This makes the Samsung Gear S the costliest smartwatch in the country. As opposed to other smartwatches launched by LG, Sony, Motorola, and Asus, the Gear S is a SIM card slot equipped smartwatch based on the Tizen operating system and is compatible only with select Samsung smartphones.

It features a 2-inch Super AMOLED display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of ROM, IP67 certification for water-resistance, and voice calling feature (over 2G and 3G networks). It is equipped with a dearth of sensors including the heart-rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, ambient light sensor, UV sensor, and a barometer.

Connectivity features include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, and GLONASS A-GPS. The Samsung Gear S smartwatch is powered by a 300 mAh battery and is claimed to last 2 days of normal usage.
