Airtel hikes it’s 2G Data packs for Postpaid users, Now 2GB Data Cost Rs.278 approx

No doubt Operators hiked the 2G data tariffs for prepaid users. Being on the other side of the line, i can only guess the actual intention may vary depending on various scenarios for incurring costs, countering usage of IM applications or to promote 3G. In a general practice by operators, now considering the hike scenario no relaxation is given for postpaid users as well.

After prepaid 2G data hikes, Airtel has now hiked its 2G data tariff for postpaid users as well. Airtel has only two 2G data packs for postpaid users as updated in their site as of now.

175Pack

249Pack

Please be noted that service charges are applicable.

Let us now make a small calculation for 2GB 2G Data plan to understand what will be the cost factor.

Price : Rs249 + 12% service tax (Rs 29.88) =  Rs 278.88 (Approx goes into your final bill) which is what you end up paying more than a prepaid customer now.

So, being a postpaid customer you end up paying approximately 278.88 which is higher than what prepaid users pay to get the 2G pack activated.

This definitely discourages any postpaid user to activate 2G data packs on their number.  This move will now encourage dual sim strategy and reducing ARPU for a company.

Dear readers, if you are a postpaid user how do you react on this when compared with prepaid? Let us know via comments.
