After announcing the Nokia X2 Dual SIM back in June, Microsoft has made available the Android smartphone in India for Rs 8,999. It comes with a 4.3-inch ClearBlack display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 5MP autofocus primary camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing secondary camera and an 1800 mAh battery.
After Microsoft acquired Nokia a few months ago, details were hazy about the future of the Nokia X series of smartphones. Before they officially announced that Nokia X smartphones would be retired and they would focus on Windows Phone devices, Microsoft went ahead and launched the successor to the Nokia X, the Nokia X2.
I don’t get what’s the point of launching the Nokia X2 here in India, especially after knowing that Microsoft won’t support their devices after some time as they are planning to kill their line-up of Android smartphones. Also, after the launch of value-for-money smartphones like Asus Zenfone 4, Asus Zenfone 5, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Micromax Unite 2, and the Moto G (2014), I don’t think there would be many people opting in for the Nokia X2.
Would you buy the Nokia X2 Dual SIM even after knowing that Microsoft will no longer release any other Android smartphone? Do people really have such huge amount of faith in Nokia’s brand? Drop in your comments below.
