At their IFA 2014 event, Microsoft has revealed three new mid-range Windows Phone devices; the Nokia Lumia 730 Dual SIM, Nokia Lumia 735 and Nokia Lumia 830. All of them are mid-range smartphones and they come with some interesting camera features. Nokia's smartphones are known to have exceptional build quality, smooth performance and great camera experience. But in the age of the Xiaomi Mi 3 and Asus Zenfone 5, will Nokia Lumia 730 Dual SIM and Lumia 830 sell?

The Nokia Lumia 730 Dual SIM is the successor to the last year's Nokia Lumia 720. It comes with a 4.7-inch HD AMOLED display, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 6.7MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. This dual SIM Windows Phone 8.1 device has a 2200 mAh battery. Microsoft had the Lumia 730's announcement revolving around its selfie taking and Skype call making abilities with its 5MP front-facing camera and a specialised 'Lumia Camera' app which comes pre-loaded with the device.

“We wanted to create a phone with a front-facing camera that delivered the same results as any main camera. We used a 5MP sensor with a big pixel size, developed super wide optics design and bent some laws of physics to make it fit to the product without any compromises, ” tells Juha Alakarhu, Microsoft’s imaging expert.

We don't think Nokia Lumia 735 would ever be released in India because it is the 4G LTE version of the Lumia 730 and even if Nokia had to release 4G LTE supported Lumia device, the Lumia 735 doesn't support 4G LTE bands that Indian operators are using. All of these devices look impressive, especially with Nokia Denim update with improved Live Folders, Apps Corner, and more secure networking. But would they sell? Let's see

The Lumia 730 will be priced at around Rs 15,000 while the Lumia 830 will be priced around Rs 25,000. At that price, the Lumia 730 competes with the newly launched Motorola Moto G (2014), HTC Desire 616, Micromax Canvas Turbo A250 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. It would be very hard for people to choose the Lumia 730 over the Moto G unless they have trust in brand Nokia or if they are really selfie addicts. Though, Nokia devices are known to provide good camera, build quality and camera quality.

The Nokia Lumia 830 however, competes with the likes of HTC Desire 816, Google Nexus 5, Gionee Elife E7 and Sony Xperia T3. Also, OnePlus One will be available in India before December 2014. As per the specifications are concerned, all the competing devices have better hardware. Also, I don't understand why Nokia has decided to use a 0.9MP front-facing camera on the Lumia 830 while it has used a 5MP front-facing camera on the lower priced Lumia 730.

All these devices appear as good upgrades from their predecessors but when you have a look at the competition from other brands, these devices doesn't seem as impressive. Would you be interested in buying the Lumia 730 or the Lumia 830? If yes, let us know what made you think so.
