XS Powercard: The future of portable charging

Smartphones in today’s time are loaded with features but somehow we all end up charging them more than once a day. Portable chargers have solved this issue to quite an extent and Xyra, a startup is all set to take things to the next level. It has introduced a new portable charger that fits easily into your wallet like just another card and at the same time keeps the thickness in check.

It comes with an inbuilt charging cum data cable which saves you the need of carrying around a cable. The XS powercard has an optional detachable memory card coupled with it which will offer storage capacity in variants of 8GB/16GB/32GB. It has been priced $34 (Rs 2,100 approximately) and is up for crowd funding on Indiegogo. Xyra is aiming to raise $50,000 through it so as to make the production viable.

It has a thickness of 6.3mm and a battery capacity of 2,200 mAh which will surely be able to charge your device once as majority of the devices are below that in battery capacity barring the flagships. It gets single port smart charging which is one of the most interesting features of the XS powercard. It means that if your phone and smartcard are being charged side by side with the phone getting charged through the smartcard’s cable, the phone gets charged first. It detects when the phone is charged 100 percent and post this, the smartcard gets charged to 100 percent. It fits easily into the top credit card slot.

“The idea was to evolve the average power bank, and through it, redefine your portable charging experience. We wanted the device to seamlessly exist in your life. To do this, it was imperative to design a charger that fits into a person’s existing patterns of behavior, and so we developed the XS powercard: a smart-charger for your smartphone,” said Arzan Irani, Co-Founder and Engineer of Xyra.

It comes in standard and fast charging modes and in mini USB as well as lightning connector variants. The good folks back at Xyra have surely taken the iPhone users into consideration. It is offered in a slew of colours and in our opinion is one of the most functional breakthroughs off late. Do let us know if you decide to go ahead and get yourself a smartcard. Deliveries for the same are expected to commence by August 2014.
