Tejas Starts Deploying Network for Vodafone Idea

As for Vodafone Idea, Tejas Networks won a contract to supply 4G/5G backhaul equipment in December 2024. This is the first deal that Tejas has won from an Indian telecom operator.

Tejas Networks, an Indian telecom tech firm, has started deploying mobile networks for Vodafone Idea (Vi) in multiple states. Tejas Networks is also supplying network gear to BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) for deploying 4G/5G in India. In Q3 FY25, Tejas supplied equipment for 27,000 sites of BSNL, taking the total count of sites for which the equipment has been given to 86,000. Much recently, Robert J Ravi confirmed that more than 65,000 4G sites of BSNL in India are now on air. Very soon, we can expect more sites to go live.

As for Vodafone Idea, Tejas Networks won a contract to supply 4G/5G backhaul equipment in December 2024. This is the first deal that Tejas has won from an Indian telecom operator. Tejas has been resilient in testing its equipment both in lab and field environment and only after the success of these trials, Tejas has been able to convince Vodafone Idea for an equipment order.

In the recent earnings call for Q3 FY25, Tejas confirmed that the deployment for Vi has started. Tejas will supply, deploy, and commission the equipment along with offering network management for Vodafone Idea. The company will be responsible for getting the traffic running on the mobile networks it has deployed for the Indian telecom operator.

With BSNL, Tejas had bagged a Rs 7,492 crore order for providing its latest 4G/5G RAN equipment to 1 lakh 4G sites planned. The company expects to do more business with BSNL as there will be a scope to upgrade 4G to 5G, and further expansion of 4G networks is also in the books. BSNL is taking single and dual band radios from Tejas Networks which are capable of supporting five airwave frequencies from 700 MHz to 2.6 GHz.
