Helped by New Trai Tariff Regime, Reliance Jio GigaTV Might be the Next Big Thing in TV Industry

Reliance Jio is expected to launch its FTTH service in the upcoming few months, and it will offer a Set-top-box for its TV services along with the GigaFiber broadband service

  • Reliance Jio will be offering a modem to its subscribers to facilitate connection for Reliance Jio GigaFiber
  • For the Reliance Jio GigaTV service, the telco will offer a separate set-top-box

In its 41st Annual General Meeting held last year, Reliance Jio had made pretty big announcements for the public. It was the occasion of the unveiling of Reliance Jio’s flagship service, the Reliance Jio GigaFiber and Reliance Jio GigaTV. Now, there is hardly any person out there who has no idea about Reliance Jio’s high-speed broadband service, and now the only wait is about the commercial launch of the same. When the service goes live, which is expected to happen in the next few months, subscribers will be able to get a two-in-one service combining their FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) connection with a DTH connection. With the implementation of the new Trai tariff regime also, Reliance Jio will have an edge over other DTH providers. The overall environment in the sector will also make it fit for the launch for the GigaTV service. Reliance Jio has also announced add-on services like access to VR apps and more which will further make Reliance Jio GigaFiber one of its kind offering by any telecom operator. Here are some of the features of Reliance Jio GigaFiber which make it worth the wait.

High-Speed Broadband Accessible on TV

The FTTH service by Reliance Jio is undoubtedly going to be the most significant greenfield fixed-line broadband service globally, and with the help of the Reliance Jio GigaTV set-top-box, subscribers will be able to enjoy high-speed internet right from their TV screens. The GigaFiber service will also boast of speeds like 1Gbps which will allow viewers to stream even 360-degree videos in 4K resolution at times.

TV With Voice Commands

Reliance Jio GigaFiber and GigaTV will bring onboard services which have been previously unheard of in the segment. Although there have been a few voice-command based set-top boxes in the industry for the subscribers, the Reliance Jio GigaTV set-top-box will allow you full control via voice commands wherein you will be able to surf between 600 channels and other content offerings from Reliance Jio through its applications.

Calling on Your TV Via Reliance Jio GigaTV

Going a step ahead with its offerings, Reliance Jio GigaTV will allow calling feature for its subscribers. Once you are subscribed to the service, you will be able to make calls to your friends, or family on any mobile, tablet, or another GigaFiber based TV. These calls will be routed from your TV only, and you will have the comfort of connecting with your loved ones right from the screen in front of you.

Two in One Combined Service

The biggest advantage of subscribing to Reliance Jio GigaFiber is that it will club two services into one. DTH and broadband are two services which have become almost mandatory in any household, and by offering both of these two under a single bill, Reliance Jio is making things easier for the subscribers. While the GigaFiber will be its FTTH service providing high-speed internet, the Jio GigaTV will be its STB which will provide DTH content to the subscribers.

competition is necessary to cut down the huge margins of service provider and it’s only benefiting the customer.
Nothing comes free but there was one time when the India leading telecom company was giving 1 GB data at 295 rupees.
It’s extortion of consumers.

It wasn’t extortion at all. Compare the rates with any other country.

Other countries are well developed, India is developing. So you cant compare like that.
