LG G Flex gets priced at Rs 69,999 in India

LG had showcased the G Flex in India back in December last year with a promise to launch the same in February. The same has now got itself an official price tag on the company’s website and it stands at Rs 69,999, making it the most expensive smartphone one sale. The same is available on leading e-commerce retailers. Let us have a brief look at its specifications:

  • 6 inch curved Plastic-OLED display with 720p resolution
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 2.26 GHz Snapdragon 800 quad core processor
  • 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage
  • No expandable memory
  • 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and it teams up with a 2.1 MP front camera
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 3G HSPA+ and GPS with A-GPS
  • 3,500 mAh non removable battery

LG seems to have launched a really good device (there’s no other curved display device on sale in India) but the same runs on 4.2 Jelly Bean when Android 4.4 KitKat is here. It seems grossly overpriced at Rs 69,999 and would have made more sense for Rs 39,999. Will you go in for it? I’d suggest otherwise.

@Abhay Bro even first generation technology devices are popular with time only if they have a practical use for the common man.Just because someone’s the first doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be the best.Microsoft was the first one to bring tablet PC to the market but still it was Apple which really made tablets popular with the concept of apps mainly.Similarly Dell was the first one to venture in the phablet category with dell streak but it was Samsung that made phablets popular using the Samsung Galaxy Note. What you have said is correct that with time the cost of… Read more »

@Rama… That what my point is …Always first generation technology is limited and expensive….MS bought Tab in 2001 and Apple brought its Ipad in 2010.. there is gap about 10 long years. I can say its 2nd generation of Tab. Even Dell Venue was the first generation phablet. FYI apple introduced his Iphone in 2007, by that time it was little known company( Might be little know here in India). It was most popular with its ipods. Ipod touch was present since 2001 and it was one of the most popular gadget in USA by 2007. Apple introduced 2 Ipods… Read more »

@abhay When I said a little know company I meant a little known company in the field of “mobile phones”.Agreed that Apple was popular with ipods long before the iphone but still no one expected that a company like Apple would bring the next major breakthrough in a field like mobile phones when all the eyes were on dominant players like Motorola and Nokia.Similarly if LG is currently dominant in display that doesnt guarantee that the next major breakthrough would come by LG in displays.Ipad cannot be considered as the second sucessor of tablet PC.Post the debut of the original… Read more »
