Idea Cellular Plans to Lay Groundwork for 5G Rollout, Partners With Nokia to Bring Cloud-Based Technology

Nokia and Idea Cellular have announced a partnership to deploy the company’s Cloud-native core technology in New Delhi. Idea Cellular will take the Finnish giant’s help in bringing the high-end tech to India, and the first place to enjoy the benefits of this new deployment will be the capital. It is interesting that Idea Cellular has taken up this project to further its digitalisation strategy in the country and to meet the increasing data demand and mobile broadband growth in India.

Benefits of Cloud Technology

A common cloud platform will be used by the telecom giant which will unify and bring both data and calling services onto a single place. As highlighted by IANS, who made the news public, this step is going to result in a significant reduction of operational costs and time-to-market. In turn, by this technology, Idea Cellular will be rendered in a better position to providing a better quality of service for its subscriber base as per Nokia’s official statement.

Company’s Outlook on New Technology

Anil Tandan, Chief Technology Officer at Idea, commented on this new development concerning the partnership with Nokia, he said, “As India prepares to define its path to 5G, we at Idea are building the foundation by adding Nokia’s cloud core capabilities. This deployment will allow us to deliver a best-in-class network experience to our subscribers and significantly reduce the time required to introduce new services.”

Owing to this technology, the most effect will be seen in the areas of lifecycle management, higher scalabilities and capacities. In general, the technology will majorly facilitate automation capabilities, and as a result, Idea Cellular’s network will benefit operationally.

The Idea Network is getting Pathetic with horrible data speeds, Vodafone is no good either and Airtel is certainly the worst of the lot. Maharashtra , Pune.I am not a fan of Jio either as there is not much difference in the data speeds of Vodafone and Jio.Vodafone Idea Ltd must first focus on improving their existing network and data speeds,if they want to stay competitive and survive, before they transition to 5G Network.

But even so, in VOID’s strong circles it does beat Jio in 4G coverage. In MP for example Jio is second best after Idea (may be will become first best after few months). Now right now only Jio is doing all India push due to initial stage of operations. Every other operator is focusing on retaining and expanding customers in few strong circles. Same thing with Airtel, there are circles where… Read more »
