Honor 8A With Waterdrop Notch, Android 9 Pie Set to Launch on January 8

Huawei sub-brand Honor is all set to kick start 2019. The company has announced to launch the successor to the last year’s Honor 7A aka Honor 8A. The smartphone will be launching in China on January 8. As of now, there is no information whether the Honor 8A will come to India. But, considering the Honor 7A made its way to the country, we can expect the same from Honor 8A as well. Honor officially teased the launch of the Honor 8A on China’s microblogging site aka Weibo on Thursday. The Honor 8A is said to come packed with up to 64GB of internal storage and include an 8MP camera on the front for clicking selfies. The same Honor phone was spotted on TENAA last month and the listing revealed some key details about the Honor 8A.

Honor posted a teaser picture on Weibo. Although the teaser didn’t show the Honor 8A, but it did reveal that the smartphone will come in a 64GB storage option. We expect more storage options to be available for the Honor 8A. The teaser also reveals that the Honor 8A will come with an 8MP selfie camera on the front. On the hardware front, the teaser further reveals will be powered by an octa-core processor.

Honor 8A Passes TENAA

Notably, the teaser didn’t reveal the final photo of the Honor 8A, but it did reveal the outline of the phone and which shows that the Honor 8A will follow the trend and come with a waterdrop-style display notch. The teaser poster also confirms that the upcoming Honor 8A or the successor to the Honor 7A will include stereo speakers. If the Honor 8A comes to India, it could be the first phone to sport a waterdrop notch display under Rs 10,000.

In December the Honor 8A was spotted on TENNA which revealed some of the key specifications of the phone. The TENNA listing revealed the Honor 8A with model number JAT-AL00 and JAT-TL000. Rumours suggest that one of the two model numbers is of Honor 8A while the other one is of Honor 8A Pro. As of now, there’s no information when will the Honor 8A Pro go official.

Honor 8A: Rumoured Specifications and Features

As for the specs, the TENNA listing revealed that the Honor 8A would run on Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. The listing further suggests that the phone will come packed with a 6.08-inch HD+ LCD display with screen resolution of 720x1560 pixels. On the hardware front, the Honor 8A is expected to be powered by an octa-core 2.2GHz SoC paired with up to 3GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The Honor 8A is said to include a single camera on both the front and back side. On the front, the phone is said to feature an 8MP selfie camera while on the back the phone is said to sport a 13MP camera sensor. The TENNA listing reveals that the Honor 8A could be backed by a 2920mAh battery.
