Coolpad has been silent for a while now but isn’t away from the game entirely, though. The company in its homeland China has announced a new smartphone called the Coolpad Cool Play 6 aimed at hardcore gamers. It also packs decent hardware that can run high-end games such as Asphalt Xtreme, Nova 5, etc.

The Coolpad Cool Play 6, for now, is available in China, but the company may launch it in India very soon. Do make a note that there’s no official information regarding this. The Cool Play 6 flaunts a 5-inch Full HD display with a pixel density of 403 PPI. Coolpad hasn’t gone with a big screen as it believes that users are struggling to hold big screen phones while gaming.

Powering the device is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 chipset, accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which comes in handy while installing games that are big on data. The chipset comes with the support of Adreno 510 GPU to handle the graphics. The Snapdragon 653 is a mid-range chip but is also capable of handling intensive tasks.

In terms of the camera, the Cool Play 6 comes with a 13MP Sony sensor at the back, coupled with another unspecified sensor which could capture monochrome shots similar to the setup seen on Coolpad Cool 1 Dual. The 13MP sensor though has a 6P lens, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture. On the front, there’s an 8MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

The Cool Play 6 runs Android 7.1.1 based on LeEco’s EUI. Another highlight of the phone is the 4060mAh battery that is rated to deliver two days of battery life with a single charge. Coolpad claims that the device can offer 252 hours of standby time, nine hours of internet browsing, and six hours of hardcore gaming.

It also comes with connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The Play 6 also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner placed below the camera module.

As said earlier, the phone is limited to China, for now. Coolpad should launch it in India under Rs. 15,000 which will make it the cheapest smartphone with 6GB of RAM. We will keep you updated if there’s any information related to Indian launch.
