Need for Enhanced Network Access

Reportedly, residents in hilly regions have long struggled with poor network access, often climbing trees or trekking long distances just to make essential calls, particularly during emergencies or for children's online classes. The new towers, sanctioned in 2022, will soon be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a couple of months, the report said.

Progress on Tower Installations

"The installation of the towers has reached the final stage. Electricity facilities have been created, and 4G sets have been installed," the report cited Sridhar, BSNL's divisional engineer in Bellampalli, as saying.

A resident of Mangi village in Tiryani mandal highlighted the community's sense of isolation due to a lack of connectivity. Of the 16 towers granted to Tiryani mandal, 12 are ready for inauguration, while construction of four is still pending.

Similar improvements are expected for other remote villages in Kerameri, Bejjur, and Lingapur, as part of a pan-India initiative launched by the government to enhance telecom infrastructure across 390 underserved villages in Telangana. Of these, 153 were sanctioned for the composite Adilabad district, the report said.
