India's largest mobile service provider Bharti Airtel today announced that it has partnered with IRCTC - Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation to offer rail ticket bookings through airtel Money.
IRCTC mobile ticket bookings through "airtel Money" service works across all mobile devices (basic phone to smartphones), does not involve any mobile Internet / data or SMS charges. It uses a simple USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) technology that prompts users with interactive and guided menu options towards booking tickets.
Airtel mobile customers can self register for airtel money Express Account by dialling *400# from their mobile phones or sign up for the service by walking into any of the 15,000 plus airtel money outlets across the top 300 plus cities of India and submitting the required KYC documents.
Simple Steps to Book Rail Tickets through airtel Money account :
- Dial *400# from your airtel mobile
- Select "Book Tickets" and then "Rail booking"
- Choose Reservation ( if you wish to search trains & choose) or Easybook ( if you know the train number)
Follow the instructions in the menu.
Note : Only airtel money subscribers with a registered IRCTC user ID can access the ticket booking menu. IRCTC services on airtel money are not available between 08.00 Hrs-1200 Hrs & 23.30-00.30 Hrs in line with Railway rules.
With this service you can also use other features like Information services ( PNR enquiry , Train Search etc), Cancellation and My account (IRCTC).
