Bharti Airtel (Airtel), Second-largest Indian telecommunications service provider, has joined hands with the Indian Army to bring mobile connectivity to remote villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir. This follows Airtel's earlier efforts, announced in November, to bring connectivity to Galwan and Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO), the northernmost military outposts in Ladakh.

Airtel's Expansion Efforts in North Kashmir
Under the PM Vibrant Village Programme, Airtel has installed 15 mobile towers in Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipore districts, connecting villages such as Kachhal, Balbir, Razdan Pass, Taya Top, Ustad, Kathi, and Cheema. These regions, located in Keran, Machhal, Tangdhar, Gurez, and Uri valleys, are now linked to the rest of the country, according to Airtel.
Support for Indian Army and Locals
Airtel said its efforts will benefit local residents and provide crucial communication support for soldiers stationed at the LoC, helping them stay connected with their families and enhancing operational coordination.
"The company has deployed 15 mobile towers in this area, which will benefit the local population and also offer essential communication connections for soldiers stationed along the Line of Control," Airtel said in a statement on Wednesday.

Extension of Services in Ladakh
In collaboration with the Indian Army, Airtel has also recently extended network services to key military areas, including the Galwan River region and Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO), India's northernmost military outpost. Airtel remains the only private telecom operator providing connectivity in these strategically vital and remote areas.
