Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a state-run telecom operator, has put up vanity numbers on auction. BSNL Chennai has announced this and the auction has kicked off from November 13, 2024. There will be 1,802 exclusive vanity numbers, including the highly desirable series 9445555990, 9499000555, 9445113113, 9499000111, 9498000123, 9499006006, 9445911119, 9445000030, 9499009009, and more. The auction will conclude at 12 PM on November 20. So people who want the numbers can participate the auction via the website of the company.

Businesses and individuals who want to secure a number can do so now. These numbers will cost between Rs 2,000 and Rs 50,000. BSNL keeps holding such auctions for desirable number sets. BSNL can generate additional revenue through such auctions, but it is not enough for the company to actually make a difference in the financials.

Other private telecom operators also offer premium numbers. In other developments, BSNL has deployed a 4G site in Lahaul and Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh. The state-run telecom operator has taken the help of Digital Bharat Nidhi for funds as this was a project under the 4G saturation intiative of the Indian government.
