BSNL was directed by the central government to monetise land assets as a part of the relief package. However, the speed at which the government had asked for the work to be done has not been complied with. BSNL is selling and renting out its land parcels including the office buildings and telephone exchanges that are not required. Apart from the tech companies, BSNL is also looking at other sector players such as wind and solar energy to rent/sell its land assets, according to a TNN report.

The government is pushing BSNL to make a U-turn with the rollout of 4G in 1 lakh sites. Much recently, the state-run telco confirmed that it has rolled out 41,000 4G sites. BSNL also got a revamped logo and launched seven new services which are set to help the company compete with the private telecom operators.

With the most affordable tariffs, BSNL will be the only telecom operator to have a PAN-India 4G network that is built on Indian technology. The CMD of BSNL, Robert J Ravi has already confirmed that BSNL will not increase the tariffs anytime soon for the customers. This has also helped the telco in adding new customers in the months of July and August 2024.
