The mobile download speeds in India saw marginal growth in the month of August 2021. From 17.77 Mbps in July, the speeds increased to 17.96 Mbps. Because of the slow growth, according to Ookla, a global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence testing applications, India has dropped four positions in the global ranking for mobile speeds from 122 to 126. Countries including Colombia, Uzbekistan, Côte d’Ivoire, and Belarus went ahead of India. Growth is growth; regardless of how much others are growing, it is reassuring to see India increasing its download speeds as well.

Broadband Internet In India Reached Mean Speed of 62.45 Mbps in August 2021

Broadband internet in India reached a mean speed of 62.45 Mbps in the month of August 2021. It is worth noting that this was the highest fixed broadband mean speed that Indian has ever seen in a particular month. As per Ookla, India has maintained its global rank of 68th position in the fixed broadband speeds in the month of August 2021.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Singapore were on the top spot in August 2021 when it came to mobile broadband and fixed broadband with a mean download speed of 195.52 Mbps and 262.20 Mbps.

With the improving 4G networks in India, the speed is expected to bump up further in the coming months. Also, with 5G just around the corner, these speeds could jump 10x in a 5G network connection. More and more people are opting for fiber broadband internet, which should also affect India’s growth in broadband download speeds.

With the relief measures in place, the telcos can aggressively invest in their 4G network and coverage, which will boost the average mobile download speeds delivered to the end-users. Note that the Ookla test results come from the data taken by hundreds of millions of real tests by real people living in different parts of the world.
