BSNL Rs 1,188 Prepaid Plan With 345 Days Validity Introduced, But the Benefits are Very Basic

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited or BSNL has been launching new plans every week. Last week, we saw the telco launching two long-term plans of Rs 1,399 and Rs 1,001 in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana circle, and now, the telco has come up with a Rs 1,188 Marutham prepaid voucher. The Marutham plan is again a long-term prepaid offering from the state-run telecom operator, but the benefits of the plan are very basic, to say the least. The BSNL Rs 1,188 Marutham Prepaid Voucher ships with 345 days validity which is the only good thing about it as the benefits are underwhelming and they don't match the telco's other yearly prepaid plans like Rs 1,699. That being said, this new plan from BSNL is aimed at the heavy voice calling users, probably the 2G feature phone users as it ships with just 5GB of data benefit for the entire 345 days validity period.

BSNL Rs 1,188 Marutham Plan: Benefits and Details

As mentioned above, the only good thing about the BSNL Marutham plan is its validity, which is 345 days. The benefits of the plan include unlimited voice calling to any network across the country, including Mumbai and Delhi, where the company does not have operations. The Marutham plan offers 5GB of data benefit which can be used on 2G/3G networks since the telco did not launch 4G services across the country. In case if BSNL is providing 4G services in your location, then the 5GB data benefit can be used on the same network. Lastly, it ships with a total of 1200 SMSes for the entire validity period of 345 days.

Another thing worth noting is the Black Out days do not apply to this plan, which is a good thing for the users who're looking to opt this new prepaid voucher from BSNL. And yes, like the recently launched BSNL prepaid plans, the BSNL Marutham plan has also been introduced on a promotional basis for a period of 90 days from July 25, 2019.

BSNL Rs 1,699 Prepaid Plan vs BSNL Rs 1,188 Prepaid Voucher

For the unaware, BSNL has a Rs 1,699 yearly prepaid plan that offers data, voice calling and SMS benefits for a period of 365 days from the date of recharge. As for the benefits of Rs 1,699 yearly plan, it offers 2GB data per day, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMSes per day for 365 days. As part of BSNL's additional data offer, the Rs 1,699 is currently shipping with a whopping 4.2GB data per day, which takes the overall data benefit to 1533GB, valid for 365 days. However, the sad part is BSNL does not have high-speed 4G services in the country, so users will have to consume the data benefit on 2G/3G networks and it will be nearly impossible for them to finish the entire data benefit.

In contrast, the newly launched Rs 1,188 prepaid plan from BSNL offers just 5GB data benefit, but as mentioned, the Marutham plan is aimed at the voice calling users who talk a lot. Since BSNL does not have any 4G operations in the country, its subscriber base is mostly 2G and a lot of them are feature phone users who don't care about data offering. So, the Rs 1,188 Marutham plan is just aimed at those, while the Rs 1,699 plan takes care of the data-centric users.
