The major DTH provider, Tata Sky has come up with a new feature for its subscribers providing personalised content recommendations on the Tata Sky Mobile app and the official watch.tatasky.com website. To enable this feature, the DTH provider is using personalised content discovery and recommendation from ThinkAnalytics. It is worth noting that this new feature will help the subscribers in getting relevant recommendations based on their previous viewing patterns to discover new shows, movies and channels which will be more suited to their liking.

Feature to Use AI and Machine Learning Engine to Recommend Content

Tata Sky has decided to go with ThinkAnalytics’ solution for making content recommendations to increase overall viewer engagement. This would also enable users to find content to watch online easily. The recommendations and the personalisation will be made through the use of ThinkAnalytics’ AI and machine learning technologies which will be based on subscribers’ viewing behaviour.

The ThinkAnalytics’ recommendation engine will make recommendations to the viewers based on many parameters like genres, language and even cast preferences based on their last visit to the platform. Notably, the engine will help Tata Sky in scaling through the database of its millions of subscribers and would boost its viewer engagement. The Tata Sky mobile app also already offers 400+ live channels along with 5,000 TV and mobile titles on their laptops and iOS and Android devices.

ThinkAnalytics CTO Peter Docherty commented on this new development, “Tata Sky is using our enhanced metadata management solution and viewer behaviour analysis to differentiate its OTT offering and demonstrate technology leadership in India. Not only do users now benefit from an experience tailored to their tastes, but we are helping Tata Sky’s business win with increased viewer engagement.”

Tata Sky Mobile App Additional Features

It is worth noting that day by day; Tata Sky is mounting its efforts on all fronts and empowering its platforms with new features and debuts. The Tata Sky application is also providing live coverage on elections, and there are also other sub-sections in the Live TV section like Live sports, Specials, Trending and Live Movies.

The Tata Sky app for subscribers is a handy tool for subscribers since it avails features like quick recharge, options to manage profiles and more. Subscribers will be able to quickly recharge their Tata Sky account from the app itself with multiple payment options. They will also be able to check balance, expiry date, check their viewing history, notifications and settings. There is also a “Manage Packs” option in the Tata Sky application where users will be able to change their channel curation, add and remove new channels. Among all this, the new ThinkAnalytics’ powered new feature will make customised content recommendations to the users now depending on their viewing patterns.
