With the content game heating up in the DTH and telecom industry, operators are heavily investing and coming up with their own solutions to lure customers. Telecom operators are aggressively partnering with OTT players to bundle content inside their apps, but DTH service providers are trying to bring original shows to the users. Dish TV is the largest DTH service provider in the country, but the operator did not have any OTT content app until now. However, that's changing as Watcho OTT mobile app has been launched on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. With Watcho app, Dish TV and D2h subscribers can watch more than 100 Live TV channels, original web shows & short films and various other regional movies. Both the Dish TV and D2h subscribers are view content on Watcho app free for six months. And non-Dish TV users will also be able to enjoy the content for free for the first three months.

Dish TV Finally Steps into the Mobile Content Game

Back in November 2018, Dish TV stated that it would launch a mobile app with Live TV service in 2019 taking on the likes of Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV. And finally, the app is here and it's named 'Watcho.' For the unaware, Tata Sky already providing Live TV service to its subscribers via the 'Tata Sky' mobile app, whereas Airtel Digital TV users can make use of the Airtel TV mobile app that's available for both Android and iOS users. The Watcho app from Dish TV should not be compared to that of Airtel TV because the former leading telco has partnered with various OTT service providers to provide content, while Watcho is aiming at original content along with Live TV service.

Talking about Watcho, it's available for Android and iOS users at the moment and every subscriber can install it for free. After installing, the mobile app will ask you to either login using your Dish TV/D2h registered mobile number (RMN), or you can register with a normal number. If you log in with a Dish TV or D2h RMN, then the app will also you to watch the premium content for free. It's worth noting that the Dish TV, D2h subscribers will be able to view the content free for the first six months, post which they'll have to subscribe to the premium content.

For non Dish TV, D2h users, the app will display a complimentary subscription package pre-activated. The Promo-Pack is priced at Rs 180 and there's a 20% discount offer going on which brings the final price to Rs 150. The Promo-Pack offers a subscription for six months. The free subscription offer for non-Dish TV and D2h subscribers will be available for the next few days (as mentioned inside the app), so hurry up and register.

Dish TV Watcho App: What it Offers?

All these days, the Watcho app was available under the beta programme for Android users, but now, it's out of beta and the stable version has been uploaded to the Google Play Store. The app is also available for iOS users on Apple App Store. Earlier, the app had a lot of bugs, but by rolling out constant updates, Dish TV has fixed the issues and it's currently providing a decent experience.

As for the content availability, Watcho app has over 100 Live TV channels across different languages along with various other originals and short films. The app currently offers more than 1000 hours of viewing, and there are features such as On-Demand Live and Catch TV. In terms of Live TV offering, it's nowhere close to what Tata Sky and Airtel TV apps are providing, but we're pretty sure that Dish TV will catch up very soon.
