WhatsApp Picture-in-Picture Mode Now Available for All Android Users

The picture-in-picture update which was rolled out for WhatsApp Beta users back in October is now being rolled out to the WhatsApp stable build for Android users. The new version of WhatsApp, version 2.18.380 comes with the latest picture-in-picture feature which will allow the users to stream YouTube, Instagram and Facebook videos inside the WhatsApp window itself, allowing users to continue texting, scrolling in the WhatsApp app even while the video is playing. Notably, WhatsApp was already offering the functionality in its iOS version since the start of this year.

Picture-in-Picture Mode for WhatsApp Android Stable Build

To enable the picture-in-picture mode on WhatsApp, users won’t need to toggle a switch or do anything extra. When the users update the application, the feature will be embedded on the application and further, whenever a YouTube, Instagram or Facebook video link is shared, then the users will be able to stream that video on the chat screen itself. Now users won’t have to open a particular application to watch the video. Instead, they can use the picture-in-picture mode to chat or scroll on the screen while the video is being played. To experience this latest feature, Android WhatsApp users will only have to update the application.

Although the picture-in-picture mode supports the video playing of links shared from YouTube, Instagram or Facebook, the feature won’t be supported for the videos shared within the platform. Also, video links shared from other platforms also won’t be supported with the picture-in-picture feature.
